Tony Blair Backs aI Doctors and Nurses for The NHS

Sir Tony Blair has urged Britain to accept AI medical professionals and nurses as he stated the world was 'in the foothills' of the greatest tranformation given that the Industrial Revolution.

The former prime minister declared AI might have an 'definitely transformative' influence on civil services by making them better, cheaper and more efficient.

He said, if he was in power today, he would be thinking of 'how you reorganise the entire government around how you welcome and gain access to this revolution'.

The ex-Labour premier described how 'all the routine jobs' in Whitehall might be maximized by innovation.

Sir Tony said it was 'ridiculous' the UK had not yet made NHS information offered to harness innovation.

He also provided a withering verdict on the civil service, declaring it was a 'conspiracy for inertia' with a 'genius for soaking up the incentive for modification and suffocating it'.

A recent Government try out AI - including 20,000 civil servants throughout 12 significant organisations - saved officials an average of 26 minutes a day.

It demonstrated how AI tools could free up Whitehall staff from 'recurring administrative tasks' and provide greater value for British taxpayers.

Speaking at the SXSW festival in London, Sir Tony said: 'We're in the foothills of the most transformative revolution considering that the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century.

'Government's all about process, so you could use AI to accelerate the process of the federal government, ensuring that we do, for instance, all the routine jobs of federal government much more efficiently.

'You could be reacting to people in a a lot more sensitive, faster, much better, more effective way.

'If, for instance, you're able to merge data sets throughout departments, you're going to conserve cash.

'You're going to analyse, based upon health information, in such a way that allows you to make much better health policy.

'And then, when you look in public services, you must be able to customise education in the future.

'You might have AI tutors, you must have AI nurses, AI physicians. We are already doing a lot of imaging much, better through using AI.

'It will make [government] much smaller sized, more effective, expense less and provide a better service to the consumer.'

Sir Tony said AI was neither 'great' nor 'bad' however a power that required to be utilized responsibly.

He advised 'resistant' officials to embrace the new technology, adding: 'When I was maturing, individuals stated the civil service was a Tory conspiracy.

'And when I acted, I understood it wasn't a conspiracy for the Tories or for Labour.
